Hinds County Human Resource Agency (HCHRA) is a public, nonprofit community action agency created by the Hinds County Board of Supervisors in 1976. HCHRA is part of a state and national coalition of community action agencies, whose goals are to eradicate poverty in local communities. Our Agency serves eligible, disadvantaged residents of Hinds County through programs and services that foster economic empowerment and self-reliance. HCHRA is funded by public and private support, as well as through community and federal grants.

Agency Highlights

 • Hinds County Human Resource Agency -- Project Head Start is now accepting applications for the 2011 - 2012 school year. Eligible children must be 3, but not yet 5 by September 1st. To complete an application, contact Hinds County Human Resource Agency at 601.923.3940. All classrooms are internet-ready and are staffed by teachers with degrees in early childhood education. Transportation is provided to children at designated Head Start centers. An Early Head Start Program, for eligible pregnant teens and newborns to age three within Hinds County, is also available. Parents of children with disabilities are encouraged to apply. To complete an application, you must show proof of age, income, and Hinds County residency. Slots are limited, so apply now!
